The challenge

For women living in poverty, education and employment are key to changing their lives and that of their families. The EU target rate for women in employment was 60% by 2010, a target that was not met in 2009 or 2010 (56.4%). In 2010 46% of those in employment were women.

The vision

Dress for Success Dublin answers to the needs of low-income women seeking employment and self-sufficiency. The organisation addresses one of the underlying causes of cyclical poverty through grassroots programmes that produce long-term solutions. Dress for Success provides interview appropriate clothing as well as building self-esteem and lasting change with career development tools, technology skills and a network of support to help clients succeed in work and in life.
