What is the goal of your organisation?

GIY's purpose is to transform the nation's health and wellbeing, strengthen communities and protect the environment by inspiring and empowering people to grow their own food.

How is support from The Arthur Guinness Fund helping?

The Arthur Guinness Fund came along at a crucial time in our development as an organisation, giving us valuable financial breathing space and providing a bridge to a more sustainable future. It also allowed us to properly resource the mission at a time when that would have been more difficult. While the funding itself was very important, it also provided us with access to much needed, world-class mentoring and expertise, which wouldn't normally be available to an organisation of our size. Having access to Diageo's marketing team, for example, has provided us with game-changing strategic direction. Being the recipient of an Arthur Guinness Fund award also enhances our reputation and makes us more attractive to potential funders, partners and patrons. The 'exclusivity' of The Arthur Guinness Fund club and the difficulty of making it through the selection process reinforces our credentials.
