STUART MCLAUGHLIN

Business to Arts (Fundit.ie)

The challenge

Pressure on public funding for creative ideas and cultural organisations is growing, with little support for creative people, especially for younger un-established artists. For a country so steeped in the arts and culture, there's a possibility that many talents won't have the opportunity to flourish in the coming years.

Business approach

In response, Stuart has developed Fundit.ie, a new web platform that showcases submitted creative projects, such as a new album, book, play, 'app' or even a new invention. It then gives the public an opportunity to fund ideas they like in return for creative rewards - anything from tickets to the event or a copy of the book they're funding.

Goals and objectives

This model has been used internationally to great effect and Stuart believes that there is huge potential to support the creative sector in Ireland through crowd funding. "We are delivering a solution where there is desire for change. Our experience and relationships with arts organisations and business people across Ireland lead us to believe the time is right for Fundit.ie."
