What is the goal of your organisation?

Suas Educational Development is a movement dedicated to supporting high quality education in targeted, under-resourced communities, with programmes in Ireland, India and Kenya.

How is support from The Arthur Guinness Fund helping?

This funding has essentially enabled us to bring in more senior management capacity within the team. Although donors desire what senior management can bring - systemic and strategic approach to change, high performing and sustainable organisations and so on - there is, in practice, very little desire to fund this. Also there is generally little support available to enable organisations' transitions from one stage of development to the next. So in terms of our mission, Arthur Guinness Fund support has enabled Suas to continue in a challenging climate, but I think the biggest difference has yet to come. Looking ahead, it will enable us to have the capacity to recruit a service-learning manager and reposition ourselves towards a more systemic approach to change.
