Arthur Guinness Projects & Ashoka

For the last four years Arthur Guinness Projects has partnered with Ashoka, a network of social entrepreneurs whose game-changing, community-based ideas have been making waves across the world.

“From Dreambender, a company wanting to create an interactive Indonesian sign language dictionary, to FoodCycle, who are trying to upscale their non-profit surplus food solution, we're going one step further to find change-makers doing inspirational work that goes beyond the ordinary.”

It only takes one person to stand out in a crowd. Jamila Abass, the brains behind MFarm, a mobile platform championed by President Obama, is proof of this. Founded in 2010, MFarm provides up-to-date market prices via an app or text message to over 14,000 farmers across Kenya. Previously, the only information available about the market rate for crops was from the buyers themselves; now farmers can access the correct retail prices for over 40 crops in an instant. MFarm also encourages farmers with small amounts of produce to team up on transport (making them more appealing to big buyers) and support each other when negotiating better prices for necessary kit.

So far, we’ve supported 20 pioneering individuals like Jamilla, and we’re not stopping there. From Dreambender, a company wanting to create an interactive Indonesian sign language dictionary, to FoodCycle, who are trying to upscale their non-profit surplus food solution, we're going one step further to find change-makers doing inspirational work that goes way beyond the ordinary.
